As a parent seeking the best skateboarding lessons for my seven-year-old son, I cannot recommend GoSkate Skateboard School highly enough. From the moment we enrolled, our experience has been nothing short of exceptional.

First and foremost, the instructors at GoSkate are not only skilled skateboarders themselves but also incredibly patient and adept at teaching young children.

My son, who was initially hesitant and nervous about skateboarding, quickly warmed up to his instructor, who created a supportive and encouraging environment. Each lesson is carefully structured to balance skill development with fun, ensuring that kids remain engaged and excited about learning.

Safety is paramount at GoSkate, and I was impressed by the emphasis placed on teaching proper techniques and safety measures right from the start. At Go Skate the instructor sets their rate. I set mine at $35 a lesson, only to be requested by Go Skate to lower it to $30.

They already had a client lined up that paid for six lessons up front and in full. I agreed. Come to find out, they charged her $100 per lesson and just pocketed the rest. This site is an absolute ripoff for both the trainer and the trainee.

None of us are trained by Go Skate and it takes a ten minute test to get certified to instruct. I took the test at 11pm and had my first student at about 10:30am the next day. NO BACKGROUND CHECK WHATSOEVER. If you got a great trainer, congrats, because the Skate community is built on each of teaching one another and lifting each other up.

Seldom do any of us have an excess of disposable income, so gear gets passed down.

We all help one another out. To see a company come in and spit in the face of those ideals is disgusting.

I purchased a lesson package for my kids and began their lessons. They had to change dates and times, but that was fine.

Before my last lesson, which we still haven't had, I received an email stating if I didn't cancel they would automatically renew and charge me. I cancelled five minutes after receiving the email, and they still charged me $724. I tried to work things out with them before going through my bank. I texted the phone number that I had been using to contact them, and they ignored me.

I sent an email and only ever got one response stating that they would review the charge and get back to me and they never did.

They ignored all communication after that. I had to take screenshots of everything and go through my bank which I was just refunded from my bank, not from them, but I still was over a week without over $700 that I wasn't planning on spending.

I paid $115 for one private scooter lesson for my 3-yr-old and this is what it looked like:

- no safety check, instruction, official assessment of skills

- instructor untrained to work with children

- instructor had an electric scooter and did not demonstrate any skills

- instructor insisting the skate park was not appropriate for 3-yr-olds

- after a failed attempt at trying to have my son scoot and stop for him, not engaging with my son for almost all the lesson time

- instructor went to get his 5 year old son thinking it might help my son engage with the lesson, but after returning (after 20 mins) he spent most of his time with his son and on his phone

I had to insist that instructor show up with a scooter after I was told his scooter was broken and he would not have a scooter for some or all of the lessons.

I wrote to the director Ron to explain the situation and ask how to make it right. I never heard back from him.

I signed my son up for the 4 lesson package, and after speaking with our organizer and supervisor and refusing to try an additional lesson to make up for the terrible experience, they were unable to refund me for the first "lesson".

The wording in the waiver you will be asked to sign is unclear. It states if you decline a second instructor you will be refunded minus a booking fee, but what they mean is you will be charged for the lesson and a booking fee and refunded lessons you have not yet taken.

These people are scammers. First, they charge me 599 dollars for 6 lessons.

They promised my daughter at least will skate comfortably which was lie. She basically learned nothing. Secondly they automatically charged me another 6 lessons even though I told them I'm done with them. They kept my credit card on file and charged me without permission.

I took my daughter to another place and little learned how to skate in one week. They promised to give the money they charged me without my permission and without any lessons, but they didn't.

Be careful with these scammers. STAY AWAY FROM THEM!
